I am so excited to be posting my first Christmas craft project. Well, it is November so I think we are allowed to get the Christmas themed glitter out now…right?
I have a new pom pom maker and the ‘Hooklings’ and I have been having so much fun making Christmas decorations for the tree. I will share some of the others with you over the next few weeks.
This little Christmas snowman was so easy to make, but looks so cute!
What you need:
A pom pom maker
4 tiny black pom poms and 1 orange one
Mod Podge or a glue gun
A small amount of blue cotton
Crochet hook (approx 3-4mm)
I made one large pom pom and one smaller pom pom and then attached them by tying a knot in the string which wraps around each pom pom and holds the yarn together. If you don’t have two sizes of pom pom maker you can always trim one pom pom down to size.
Each pom pom will need a little hair cut to smooth out the edges and trim off any stray bits of yarn. I then glued on the tiny pom poms for the eyes and the buttons and the nose.
I then added a scarf. I made this by crocheting a string of chain stitches in a piece of blue cotton. You could use yarn but I like the contrast between the cotton scarf and the yarn pom poms. There is a great tutorial on YouTube showing how to chain stitch by the lovely Naztazia. You may remember I featured her pattern for crochet roses earlier in the year.
I used the embroidery needle and threaded a piece of cotton into the head so I could make a loop to hang the little snowman up.
I am starting to get really excited about putting up the Christmas tree next month, so we can put on all of our new decorations.
