30 years ago, I made the Queen a card for her 60th birthday and her Lady in Waiting actually wrote back to me to say thank you on her behalf. I have been a big fan of ‘Her Madge’ ever since, so when iChild asked us if we would join in their celebrations for the Queens 90th birthday, I was delighted.
iChild provide thousands of printable activities and educational resources for children and sent me a huge pack of queen themed activities for my children to try including, crowns, bunting and colouring pages and most exciting of all a fantastic cupcake decorating kit.
The children immediately got stuck into the colouring.Even sprout had a go. It was great having an activity which covered all three ages.I am not sure this is an official portrait of the queen…. I don’t think I will be seeing it on a postage stamp any time soon. The great thing about the iChild resources is that the child can express their own individuality throughout the activities.
Due to the incredibly unreliable state of British weather our lucky monarch gets to have a two birthdays. Her actual birthday in April which tends to be quite a quiet family affair (other than the gun salutes…obviously) but it is her ‘Official’ birthday in June where the British public love to get involved in her celebrations.
The girls decided they wanted a party in her honour. I thought it was unlikely we could get permission to close the road for a street party, and it was raining so a garden party was out of the picture… so in the end we decided on a tea party and had a great time making the cupcakes.Twinkle and Minty worked together really nicely, weighing out the ingredients and cracking the eggs.
Sprout helped as well………
They looked so cute and tasted great and most importantly the girls had a great time making them. Then we decorated the living room with our bunting and other royal art work and after a quick costume change we were ready to party like a Queen.I even let them use the good china. Cup of tea anyone?
iChild have some great resources for Father’s Day, I really recommend that you go and visit them.
