My kids grow. Constantly. I think it must be a combination of our wet winters mixed with the amount of mud they paddle in which makes them grow like weeds and this year was no exception. I have been working through their summer clothes to try and find something which still fits, but alas they are all too small!
I decided to crochet a few summer short sleeve jumpers, because lets be realistic here…. how warm is it actually going to get.
This is the first one I made using Rowan All Seasons Cotton in Denim and Organic. This yarn is a dream to work with. It is 60% cotton and 40% acrylic, which makes it a little bit easier to work with than 100% cotton and is very soft on the skin. It is a mid range Yarn at about £5 a ball but I needed 5 balls to make this little top, although had I not had a colour change I could have probably managed with 4.
I made this one a little bit big as I haven’t used this yarn before, and I am not a huge fan of gauge squares (#lazy…) Better too big than too small. Wouldn’t it look cute with a nautical applique or a few buttons?
I will share this pattern once I have tested it a few times.
I am making Minty’s out of a completely different yarn – Berroco Folio. It is thinner and wispier and I am really looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
