Giveaway results at the end of this post!!!!!
Minty had a long list of things she wanted for her 4th birthday, some of which she got and some of which she didn’t (I don’t have stable room for a unicorn).
We have a tradition in our family that every year the children get a small handmade gift for their birthday. I am trying to encourage them to appreciate the effort and thought that goes into handmade over a large gift like the shiny bike she also got this year.
Turning 4 meant one very important thing to Minty, that she was FINALLY a ‘big girl’. I am not exactly sure what the criteria is but you have to be at least 4….. apparently. What does every ‘big girl’ need? Her own handbag obviously!
This is the bag I made for Minty, using Louisa Harding’s gorgeous Cassia Prints – Fruity and Cassia – Lipstick yarn. It is a dream to work with at 75% Wool and 25% Nylon, it simply slips off the hook.
Minty is very proud of her new bag and it is already filled with her random bits and bobs.
The solid Lipstick coloured yarn compliments the pink specks in the Fruity yarn perfectly. I love the pattern the Fruity yarn makes when crocheted. It is perfect for a small project like this as the colour change happens from stitch to stitch.
I love how the classic shell stitch works on the bags flap. I would definitely buy this wool again, at approximately £5 a ball it is a mid range wool, but it is a gorgeous luxurious quality, it very soft and has none of the itchiness some high wool content yarns have. It is soft enough for baby clothing.
I love the range of colours Louisa Harding Yarn supplies. Perfect, if you want to put your children/grandchildren in bright and striking colour combinations.
