This week on GBBO it was Tudor week. The contestants were asked to make a selection of 16th century bakes including 12 deep filled savoury pies, jumble biscuits and for the show stopper, a 3-D marzipan centrepiece.
Andrew’s, Leonado Da Vinci, inspired cog pies were outstanding, as was Candice’s peacock marzipan centrepiece which won her the accolade of star baker.
I can not be the only one shocked by the departure of lovely Benjamina this week. She has done so consistently well from week 1, but to be fair she did have a bad week.
The contestants struggled with the Jumbles, as they were only given very limited instructions. I on the other hand downloaded Paul Hollywoods full recipe which made it considerably easier. Those celtic knots were a lot harder than they looked.
They are crisp and sweet on the outside, and soft and crumbly on the inside.
