Sk 1 ch, *DC in the following 15 ch, turn, ch 1*
Repeat from * to * until your piece is square.
Block your square.(Note: This pattern is in UK Crochet Terms – A UK DC (double crochet stitch) is a US SC (single crochet stitch).Fold your piece into the shape of an envelope.I wanted my envelope to be rectangular but you could equally make it square.Sew along the seams with matching cotton.
At this stage I re-blocked the completed envelope to ensure the piece was symmetrical and the points were neat, but this isn’t compulsory.
For the heart
I tried several heart patterns before I found one that I felt made a consistently pretty heart shape. Eventually I came across this pattern by Heather on her wonderfully named blog Pink Milk
No fiddly magic ring, just gorgeous little hearts.
Sew your heart on to the envelope flap and hey presto! A gorgeous little Valentine’s Day envelope.
I would love to hear what you intend to do with yours and please do send me pictures of your completed projects.
