The Spring Knitting and Stitching show held annually at the London Olympia in Kensington holds a special place in my blogging career. It was the first craft show at which I introduced myself to exhibitors as a craft blogger. As is often the way with the craft community, people showed me warmth and interest, and as a result I got through the event, without the need to run into a corner and hide under a chair.
This year I attended with two fellow craft lovers and we had a fabulous day out. I was intrigued by the increase of craft kits for sale this year. Clearly this market has really opened up. They were so varied and unique that I wanted to share a few of my favourites.
I have a craft kit and two books to giveaway at the end of this post so please do stay with me to the end.
I love these little chunky cross stitch craft kit by Ann’s Orchard Needlework. They are simple enough for a child to attempt but look so effective framed. The little Puffin is so lovely, and I will definitely be talking to Father Christmas about popping one in Twinkle’s stocking this year. They are priced at a very reasonable £10.
This Latvian mitten knitting craft kit by Hobby Wool is enough to turn me from crochet to knitting. The colours and patterns are so striking and are based on traditional Latvian designs. My favourite design is the bee, which you can see below. At £16.90 these kits are fabulous value for money.
Multipom, is a fabulous tool which allows you to make up to 20 identical pompoms in one go. It is such a simple concept but anyone who has spent hours making and trimming pompoms for a project will know what a great idea this is. The starter craft kit start from £15.99.
Daisy and Grace make very sweet and simple sewing kits. Their packaging is lovely and these kits would make a lovely gift for a friend or family member who is learning to sew. Their craft kits start from around £19.
The Makerss make these Felting Kits are which are some of the loveliest I have seen, I adore the butterfly and the little dormouse in a cup. Their kits range in price starting at £18.
Sue Stratford Knits have had a wonderful rebrand. She has beautiful new packaging and a fabulous new range of kits, patterns and books. I love her new ‘Knit Me, Dress Me, Love Me’ craft kit. You knit a little mouse and then you can gradually make her a new wardrobe.
You may remember that last year we ran a giveaway of Sue’s Mini Knitted Christmas Book. She has kindly offered a blue tit knitting craft kit and a copy of her two new books as a giveaway for you lucky lot.
