Learn How to Screen Print at Home

April 24, 2018 by Amy Le Pelley 4 Comments

I have wanted to try screen printing for ages, but it is so hard to find time to take part in workshops which are often not that local or accessible and the equipment needed to work in this medium is often considered bulky and expensive.

That is why I was so excited when Screen Sensation sent me their home screen printing system which will enable you to create unique projects or to transform clothing or fabric easily from home.

Screen printing is a wonderful art form.  Whether you want to print home decor images for frames, or print on fabric to sew into projects of there own.  Using one colour for a gorgeous monochrome style or repeating patterns and multiple colour combinations.  The sky is the limit!

The Screen Sensation kit comes with the frame, a pop up paint mixing bowl, fixing tape, mixing sticks, a squeegee, a plastic palette knife, a mesh screen design and a pot of screen printing ink

I am making framed screen print art work for my children’s new bedrooms and I chose the mesh screen designs I thought they would like and that would match their rooms.  ‘Dream Big Little One’ in black for my little one, ‘Be Courageous The Wonders Will Follow’ for my Twinkle my 8 year old who is not a natural daredevil but who tries so hard to be brave and a beautiful butterfly print for Minty my nature loving 5 year old.

When you tape the mesh onto the frame you have to remember to reverse the image.

The frame slots into the Screen Sensation with the curved handles on the right of the image.

Use a mixing stick to spread the ink along the top of the image.

Pull the ink across the image with your squeegee, from top to bottom.

I was blown away when i lifted the screen. The result was so crisp and professional.

I repeated the process with the other mesh screens using other colours.  The prints dried really quickly and were soon ready for framing.

The kids were really excited when they saw their new prints hanging on their bedroom walls.

This kit really did exceed my expectations, I had no idea that it could be so easy to achieve such professional results affordably from home.

I can’t wait to try other mesh designs and to reuse my existing mesh screens to make gifts for friends children.

Screen Sensation have very generously offered my readers the following discount code: SSBL25-A3HH4

This will give you 25% off any orders you make.  Enjoy!!!!

Please do share any wonderful creations you make using your Screen Sensation kits!  I can’t wait to see them.

Disclosure – I was sent the Sensation Screen kit for the purpose of review, however all the views given are my own.
